Popular Species

mulloway (Argyrosamu hololepidotus)

Description

Mulloway, also commonly called Jewfish, is one of Australia's greatest scalefish and easily distinguished by their silvery, bronze scales, opalescent sheen, and a row of pearly spots.

Habitat

Jewfish can be found from southern Queensland through New South Wales, into Victoria, South Australia and southern Western Australia.2 Jewfish occur mainly in coastal embayments and estuaries but also occur off ocean beaches and on inshore reefs.

Remarks

Martin's Seafoods purchase farmed Suzuki Jewfish from Southern Australia. The quality of farmed Jewfish is superb and much more consistent than wild jewfish.

Suzuki Jewfish has a rich, sweet, clean flavour and is particularly suited to Sashimi, pan frying skin-on, steaming and grilling.
