Atlantic Salmon (Salmo salar)
Description
The Atlantic Salmon is blue to olive in colouring with silver sides and a scattering of small dark spots.
Habitat
Atlantic Salmon are native to the North Atlantic Ocean and were introduced to Australia for aquaculture purposes. They are farmed in the southeastern bays of Tasmania.
Remarks
Atlantic Salmon is an oily fish, high in omega-3's, with an orange flesh and mild flavour. It is extremely versatile fish and lends to many different cooking styles and preparations.
