King George Whiting (Sillaginodes punctata)
Description
The King George Whiting has a very small, elongated body with a pointed snout. It generally has a silvery body with scattered dark spots on the back and upper sides.
Habitat
King George Whiting live in temperate waters from Port Jackson in New South Wales as far south as the northern waters of Tasmania, and westwards in Western Australia. They are predominately caught in South Australia and Western Australia.
Remarks
King George Whiting is the largest whiting and makes excellent eating with white flesh, fine texture and mild flavour.
