John Dory (Zeus faber)

Description

The John Dory is greenish to silver in colour with a prominent dark spot on the side. The John Dory has a highly compressed head and body and reaches 75cm in length.

Habitat

John Dory occur most often in deep waters, but are occasionally found in shallow coastal waters. In Australia they occur from southern Queensland, around the south of the country and north to the central coast of Western Australia.

Remarks

John Dory is one of Australia's most highly priced and regarded table fishes with sweet, white meat and fine, delicate flake.
