Eastern Rocklobster (Jasus verreauxi)

Description

The Eastern Rocklobster has a green body with smooth abdominal segments. The Eastern Rocklobster is the largest rocklobster in the world, and can reach up to 8kg. In Australia, however, it is commonly found at half that size.

Habitat

Eastern rocklobsters inhabit the exposed reef areas of the east coast of Australia from Tweed Heads in New South Wales, around Tasmania and as far west at South Australia.

Remarks

Similar to the Southern Rocklobster the Eastern rocklobster has tasty, white, firm flesh.
